Estate boot lid (Xantia)

Post by Jshodgson »

I have got myself an estate but the boot lid opens only when encouraged rather than my hatchback boot which glided open effortlessly. Does anyone have any ideas how I can improve its performance? I fear it may fall on head one day!

Thanks, James

James, you simply need to replace the lift rams. I suspect one has failed and the other is either on it's way out or working very hard!
Suppliers, I am sure you will get some tips very soon. Cit ones are a mite expensive but very good.

Mine cost £50 inc vat just before xmas from E C Parts. Also, try Ebay under Xantia estate.I`ve noticed there seems to be alot of new pairs being sold.
Its a very easy job.About 2 mins to change both.Just make sure that some one holds the tail gate up while your doing them,as i does hurt your head if it hits you! :( :D
