Creak!

I noticed last night a slight creak when turning the steering wheel of our blue Xantia. Today it has got much louder.
It creaks all the way from lock to lock. Although I can't really hear it under the bonnet with the engine running.
Anyone can put their finger on the prob before I get down & dirty with it?

BX's used to creak quite awfull from the steering wheel. This is caused by the underside of the steering wheel sliding against the plastic cowling underneath. Very annoying. Cure was to remove steering wheel and cowling, then slightly bend the 2 steel wings (holding the stalk switches) slightly downwards. (using a hammer )

This moves the cowling downwards - free of the steering wheel. Feels like a new car afterwards
