PROGRESS IS BEING MADE!!! The ignition was faulty, the jump wire has now gone  i've fitted the relay and got my rear window demister back on again, but the damn heater blower is still going full whack!!, So as Clogzz suggested i removed the output transistors from the motor and guess what? IT STILL RUNS ON FULL SPEED regardless of where the switch is!! Now i have to keep removing fuse 20 to stop it,

Congratulations, looks like you've got an unusual one !
Next step is to disconnect the thin wires, to see if that affects it.
If you suspect the control module, it should be easy and cheap to get one from a wreck, because it doesn’t look like there’s any stampede for them.
As an experiment, and hopefully not as a last resort, you could try BonceChops’ homemade external speed controller:

More ideas here, especially Tom Sheppard’s posts, even though they are for the BX:

SORTED AT LAST!! I Put my motor into my father-in-laws car after refitting the transistors and it worked perfectly... put it back in my car and guess what .... IT BLEW FULL WHACK AGAIN  . Luckily i took note of the wiring colours on the 4 pin plug on his car, and yes they were different to mine. i changed the red & black wires round & "BINGO" it works perfectly. some idiot must have been tinkering before it was fetched to me. A Big "THANK YOU" to all have helped me, i could never have done it without you all.. :D

hi all, i've changed the crankshaft pulley, but to no avail  the noise is still there, does anyone recommend changing the injectors or could it just be normal engine noise, it does quieten a little as the engine gets warm, it has just reached 110,000 miles,
thanks,
