Ben - do I take it that the problem is that they are too tall to fit underneath - and so you are looking for some that are squatter than normal?

On the Hdi, citroen recomends Quartz 7000 semi synthetic, at 15000km or 10000km changes.

I have been using Quartz9000, fully synthetic. 5W40 or so. And the oil is fine after 15 000km.

The Hdi engine is am improvement of the XUD so I see no big differences, and as Anders says, they are no rocket engines.

In my case, most km are done on the highway, and I am very carefull with the engine.

I do oil changes every 5k as my weekly mileage is at least 400 for work and then whatever at the weekend, I use to use the expensive Magnatec oil for over a year with the ZX and then recently started using the cheaper bigger bottle from Morrisons supermarket, its about £7 and you get more and I cant say I have noticed any difference.

Obviously when I have my own car again whenever that may be and hopefully I will have a Citroen again I will still use the cheap oil every 5k

My ZX TD has done 180,000 miles of its current 235,000 on Halfords semi-synthetic 10w-40 and Halfords filters, both changed every 6,000 miles.
ex-ZX TD Estate owner - (309,000 miles on the original engine and turbo) now risking a Renault.
