The C5 doesent have the switchable fuse.

Most mutiplexed Cits/pugs dont have an ignition feed at the radio, they do have a VAN+ wire which can be confused for an ignition live.dont connect to this.

In theory there is no problem taking POWER from the radio as long as it is the battery live you go into, however it would'nt really be advisable.the central locking & display problems come when you fit aftermarket radios & dont wire them corectly.

There is no problem with taking feeds from the fag lighter, this is not mux'd.

It will switch off when the ignition key is turned off or you can switch it off by the radio on / off button.

You can operate the radio without the ignition key, Once you turn it on it will stay on for 30 minutes before Economy Mode Activated appears on the display & kills the radio.

To get the radio back on again you have to start the engine.

You cant fool the BSI by turning the radio off & on again before 30 minutes is up, It just adds the total time the radio is on together & will switch it off after 30 minutes has passed.

You can get the economy mode feature turned off, In fact the dealer activates it in the BSI configuration set up at the cars PDI.

the BSI sends a digital signal to the radio to tell it to turn off when the ignition is switched off.but as powerlee says it can be switched on again with the button.the button on the radio is one of the wake up sensors for the VAN network.
I dont think eco-mode can be switched off,the time that it takes to kick in can be altered though,it comes pre set at the factory at 30 minutes.
