Xantia Radio

Post by zzf00l »

Hi Guys.
Some of you may have read my recent posts concerning my central locking acting up recently, as you may remember a couple of fuses had blown ... rear windows and c/locking... one I forgot all about was my radio. After my recent clutch change!! I was unable to programme the code in, all I get are 4 dashes in a row... I have disconnected the battery for over 24 hrs in an attempt to reset things but no joy. I have noticed that I used to get power for the radio without the need to turn the ignition on... but no more, I have to have the ignition on to get power! Methinks all these problems may be connected. Any ideas anyone??

You have two supplies to the radio, one permanently live to conserve the memory and one, usually switched by the ignition. If you check you will probably find you have one missing.

Didn't I see somewhere that Xantia radios are rather nicely wired with the choice of on all the time or with the ignition being selectable by moving the fuse to an alternative position?

I think this was mentioned in quite a recent post.

Yes, that's true - but it doesn't affect the 'permanent' supply.

Hmm drawing a blank here guys.... i'm trying to work on the assumption that I may have disconnected/damaged something whilst changing the clutch (only major recent work) but can't 'see' anything amiss, perhaps you could guide me to an area to look/concentrate in.

If the back-up supply works, the red warning led on the radio will flash when the key is out.
Every time a wrong code is entered, it takes longer to recover from it.

It's no use posting the link to the search because it doesn't work like that, but when you enter as search keyword: 'radio memory' >>> search all terms >>> search ... it arrives with 22 topics, one of which is this, with stories of having to wait for days:

Ok thanks for the reply... don't quite understand about 'posting the link' because I havent done that but anyway.... I have no red led illuminated, so! Is there a fused supply for the back up supply? Presumeably my problem is the supply because I know the code and didnt get chance to input it incorrectly

Done it..... Ha! I had to hold the BND button for a few seconds and then ENTER CODE appeared. Entered the code and everything came on... including the flashing led when I turned off the ignition.

Thanks for the input guys :D

Lovely ! :D
Nice to read about another good outcome.

As for 'posting the link', it was me that was trying to do that, but to no avail.
When the search function listed 22 relevant topics, I tried posting the URL shown in the address bar, but it didn't work.
Apparently that search URL's don't have an address of their own, or something like that. :)
