Xsara rev counter problem

Any ideas on how to fix this strange problem?

Went to start my wifes xsara and the battery had obviously died. Thing is the speedo and rev counter went spinning round madly and stopped in a funny place. After replacing the battery all was fine except the rev counter needle has now gone all the way round and is now stuck under the little pin that stops the needle dropping back past zero. Any ideas how the get back all the way round?

it might just be stuck there - give it a thump maybe...... might shake it loose.....

Excellent! Did a search for rev counter but found nothing, didn't think of searching for speedo as well.
