Xantia C'Locking

Post by zzf00l »

Xantia 1.9TD 1999
Hi Guys.
Perhaps someone can advise on the following. Secured Xantia last night as usual i.e. using remote and double clicking to set deadlock feaure. This morning I was unable to unlock using remote….eventually I was able to open the drivers door by key. After initially being unable to open the other doors from inside (central locking would not work) I am now able to manually open all doors. However, the tailgate (no key slot) and fuel flap remain locked. If I now operate the remote I get a muted bleep as if trying to lock the car with a door still open. Am low on fuel so please help.

The fuel flap motor is accessible through the boot, piece of side lining to remove.
The boot is accessible through the back seat. :D

Best wishes.

Cheers for the quick response. I have been able to locate 'part' of the problem, a 30amp fuse has blown (F25) and replacing this fuse has allowed me to use the remote to unlock and lock the tailgate, fuel flap and to set the alarm. However, the locking operation for the doors is still only manual!!! :? Plus! The remote locking/unlocking seems slow.
But at least I can fill up and let my passengers in and out again.

Does the central locking also not work when using the drivers door key ?

Perhaps the central locking controller developed a fault, blew the fuse which it runs off, and that fuse is also shared with the other things that stopped working.

When you replaced the fuse some of them started working again, but the original failure that blew the fuse still exists...

Regards,
Simon

No! The key only opens each door.... no central locking for doors, only tailgate and fuel flap. I wonder if the system has overloaded and blown the fuse!

Bit of a late reply, we have very strange hours here, about 10.45 PM now.

Looked in my owner's book and Haynes, different fuses.
The blown fuse F25 30 Amp probably operates the central locking.
If the central locking is slow, there's a lock mechanism binding, needing a squirt of cleaner/lubricant.
A binding mechanism increases the current, maybe enough to blow the fuse.
Often noticed that one or the other of the locking mechanisms is slow and noisy by cold, humid weather.
Squirting has always cured them.

Yes you were right. The nearside rear door mech. was sticking, once lubricated everything now works OK
