xantia hydraulics problem?

Post by rshiers »

I've replaced all the spheres and accumulator and antisink sphere within the last 3 months. also replced the LHM (didn't flush). I am getting a kind of wush / buzzing noise when accelerating especially noticeable at low speeds. It seems to be louder at higher revs. I've never had the pressure light come on and it takes less than 5 sec to go out but maybe slighlty longer to go out than when i bought the car 5 months ago. i havn;t had to top the LHM up at all.
Also it always seems to rise slightly when I start the car although never seems to go right down to the floor when it's parked up.
Any ideas what the problem? is? Is it some kind of valve depressurizing the system or maybe the regulator closing slowly causing the noise. Should I bother doing anything or let it get worse. Its starting to happen quite a lot now - virtually everytime I pull away.
The car is a 94 td with 113k miles on it
Thanks for any help!
cheers
Rob
P.s. searched forums but can't find anything specific

also the car is taking longer to rise fully e.g. 15 seconds to rise right to the top. also handbrake cable is sheared on both sides by the strut...... is it dangerouse as the brakes may fail?
cheers

Check the air pipe from the turbo, though if it has a big leak there should be a loss of performance.
This wouldn't be the power steering hissing at you would it.
The pressure light will take longer to go out with a new fully charged accumulator sphere fitted.
Its normal for the car to rise when you start it for the simple reason, when you get out of it your body weight is removed obviousely, so the suspension naturally lifts as a result, this opens the valve to allow it to drop back to normal, where it was before you got out, when you get back in it naturally sinks a bit, this opens the valve to allow it to lift back to normal, where it was before you got back in.
On top of that antisink is only able to keep the car up for a certain period of time, it wont prevent it sinking indefinately especially on high mileage vehicles.
The handbrake needs sorting without delay for reasons not to difficult to imagine, also these cars don't have the capability to stop like other cars, if the pump or its belt breaks you have a limited amount of time before the accumulator sphere is exhausted and power for the front brakes is lost, in that situation you will need a good handbrake, if the stop light comes on in a hydrocit it means STOP, or else
