SWITCH ??????????????

Post by WELSHVIKING »

Hi, I have a 1996 / N reg xantia 1.9. td sx estate with the fog lights switch on the stem along with the main lights. However today i noticed a switch along side the hazard switch and heated rear window switch it was a rear fog light switch ??? as i have already said my foglights are on the lights stem so i think this switch has been put in as a replacement...so what is it...i think maybe the air con switch as i have auto climate control on this car but cannot see a air con switch anywhere ..can anyone just confirm what it is please ?.Thanks Colin

How long have you had the car, you seem to be finding so many new things with it :P

From memory mine is : Clock - Hazards - Rear Demister - Air Con

AirCon button is like a snowflake and the colour is green - yours should have aircon if its an SX and you have the Auto on the heater controls

Me' thinks you have a fog light switch in place of your AirCon button 8)

Just ran to the car to check and they are in the right sequence

The middle switch is for the rear fog lights.
All cars have rear fog lights, but not front ones.
Just went looking, from the left it goes: clock, hazard flasher, rear fog lights, rear window demister, -space-, air conditioning switch.

In agreement to Vikings original statement, both his front and rear fog lights are operated independently using the 'Indicator Stalk' just like mine unless ive read incorrectly.

I cant see him having two working switches (button switch on dash AND the Indicator stalk action) unless the owner before Viking was thinking on the same principal as yourself Clogzz and 'put in' a fog light button switch not maybe realizing both sets of fogs were operated on the Indicator Stalk or maybe even the Indicator Stalk was faulty at some point and therefore did a bit of wiring and used a button switch like my ZX for example.

If anyone is still following me then please let me know as ive lost my way and could do with some encouragement :?

Any other suggestions?

Hope this will be comforting: :)

My finding is for my car that has no front fog lights.
I don't think that my stalk has a position for optional front fog lights.
I don't know how the switching goes with original front fog lights.
