help needed

Hi going to tackle a couple of jobs tomorrow on my 1996 td sx estate
1 replace a couple of instument bulbs which are out
2 find out why the steering wheel controls for the stereo dont work

any help on how to remove the instrument panel from the dash would be appreciated and any ideas why the steering wheel radio controls are not working, and yes it is the original stereo in the car.

The steering wheel will have to come off to do the bulbs i think.
The steering wheel controls may well be the conections in the wheel.I`ve just had my wheel off,& now i have to take it off again as my controls are not working

To take the wheel off,disconect the battery,leave for 10 mins,then turn the wheel 1/4 of a turn to be able to get to the airbag screws on the rear of the wheel.1 torx screw on each side.Undo them,& gently pull the airbag centre out a bit,enough to disconect the small orange conector on the rear off the a/bag.Once removed,you will see the steering wheel controls in the s/wheel.If you are going to take the wheel off,its then a 21mm nut.You may have to take the columb shoulds off.All in all its about 10-15 mins to remove the wheel.BE CAREFUL with the airbag when handling it.
