Noisy central locking

Post by davehughes »

What can I do to my bootlid c/l actuator to quieten it. It screeches when operated. Will WD or 3 in 1 harm it?

No risk of harm, it will do it a lot of good.
Had that problem soon after buying the car in 1997.
The mechanism was noisy and slow.
Squirted it with Holy Water :D WD 40, and it came good: quick and quiet.
Been good ever since, never had to go back there.

Thanks for that tip! Mine is so noisy that it wakes up the whole street early in the morning!

How about telling your boss that as a model employee and enlightened Citroën owner, you're entitled to civilised working hours ? Image
