C5 Emission light

Post by silverback »

My father in law's HPi (petrol) C5 has the service warning light on the dash come on along with the engine light.
The display on the dash also says 'anti polution' as well.

I have driven the car, and it's smooth and goes well beyond limp home speeds, although it's no-where as quick as my Xantia hdi.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?

Does this C5 have the special catalysator anti-pollution additive container which can run dry ?

If i recal, no, Anders, but the spark plugs need to be changed every 60.000miles or so. Could be the cat or lambda probe too :S

Well AndersDK I have certainly encountered Peugeot's that have the container run dry.

Although the "special catalysator anti-pollution additive container" is normally on an HDI.

Ahhh...

Back to fairly standard petrol problems then.
The C5 would have both the pre & pro cat lambda's to minimise pollution.
Could be a cable fault down there.

the HPi definitely doesent have any additive system.
It could be anything causing this, you really need to get the fault codes read. The high pressure fuel pumps are common for faiure though.

The car was taken to a local Cit man in Wolverhampton who cleared the computer memory.
The warning light is now off and everything seems fine.

He did say that the diagnostic pointed to a coil (??), and that if the light comes on again it will have to be replaced.

Thanks for the replies guys. :)
