Heater matrix supply?

Post by howiedean »

Hi,
I'm going to fit a fuel heater to my xantia as I'm running biofuel. I've missplaced my manual and want to know if the hot supply to the heater matrix is the pipe that leads from the filter housing around the back of the block?

cheers
Howie

Heater Matrix supply is from the far side of the cylinder head.
The pipe from the fuel filter/thermostat housing is the recirculation pipe for rapid warm up, it goes round the back to the water housing on the block, this pipe is blocked off when the thermostat opens.

Hi Dave
Ok then, I had a look under the car do you mean the pipe at the back of the block passenger side (UK that is)? Also the return looks like it joins into a large bore pipe at the rear of the engine on the drivers side.

Sorry for all this, the ZX was so easy!!!!!

Hi there, when I ran my zx 19d on 100 % svo (aldi 5 star! ), I plumbed my fuel heater into the hose that ran to the oil filter housing at the front of the engine (oil cooler?).. This was until a coolant leak developed and I removed it and found that the engine ran fine without fuel heating (even cold) with no apparent problems at all.
I won't do that again

The pipe your talking about is the one I've been looking for!!! I know what you mean about it running OK though.
I want to improve the MPG as in this cold weather it has dropped a bit.

cheers

Older 309s and 405s used to have an electric in-line fuel heater that would do the job very neatly, looks like a piece of inch steel pipe about six inches long with a spade connector on it.

Finally fitted my heat exchanger to the oil cooler supply. It makes a big difference to the biofuel and my engine runs quieter once it's warmed up!!!!

Cheers
