Xantia rear engine mount rubber

Xantia rear engine mount rubber
Has anyone changed the rubber donut in the rear engine mount without removing the mount?
I thought I saw a string here before but can't find it now.

In line with Malcolm & Jeremy. Did it on my BX except I forgot all about freezing the new doughnut before fitting
Cut through the rubber with a hacksaw blade to remove the rubber. Then cut through the steel ring and remove the remainings. Its not that bad a job but an akward workplace it is.

When I did the one on my BX the rubber was so shot it just basically fell out, and I ran a few lines of MIG weld round the inside of the outer shell.
This both heated it up to free it and gave me something to whack on and it then came out pretty quickly, so if you have a MIG, use it!!!
This has the side effect of making it easier to get a freezer ready bearing in- you have to be quick, though!!
Only Citroen could come up with an interference fit engine mount.......

I've seen mention of Bx donut bushes on here before - does anyone know the diameter [in fact the overall general dimensions] of the various options that are listed with GSF.
The thing is - there are a few options so I don't know which to try. I don't think my local GSF guy will humour my "can I see them all before I buy just the one" approach!
I've kept the old duff Xm 2.0i one to use as a pattern but need something I can compare to. It even resembles the top stabiliser of the pork chop style CX bush...
The ally casting attached to a Xantia 1.9 TD engine I've got spare looks VERY similar in design if not exact in it's dimensions - I couldn't see the one on a Xant 16v 2.0i engine to confirm either - I've not been able to get these checked out yet!
Any ideas of what's actually available with these BX bushes for a tenner?

BX, Xantia & XM XU/D doughnuts are the same. 70mm outer diameter.
V6 & 2.5D/TD mounts are specials.
If stocks runs dry on parts for earlier models there is always the option of getting the old mount re-vulcanised. This would be an easy task for your local rubber/tyre specialist.

Before I go out in a mitue and start work on his, I just wanted to check; the rubber donut has two thicker bits of rubber, say at 9 oclock and three oclock position and then two thinner bits at 12 and 6 oclock position. Should the donut be put in this way around or should the thicker bits be at the top and bottom of the bush. I just thought this might affect the way it works. I hope this makes sense

From what I remember my BX one was rather like a letter 'I' in the steel ring and the 'I' was vertical. I think the ZX is the same. You'd think that turning it through 90 degrees would stiffen it up. Photo in Haynes ZX manual shows it vertical as well.
The rubber in the thin bit is very thin and should push out. Looks like it gets there when the moulds don't meet properly or something.

Well I got the old one out ok! Don't bother using a hacksaw to get out the old rubber, I used an electric drill with a 13mm wood bit in the end, took 30 seconds! drive is a mess though!
The only problem is I can't get the new one in. The drivers side of the mount is a bit burred from removing the metal ring, so I'm trying to get it in from the passenger side. It's hard to tap it all round. It's dark now so I'll finish it tomorrow, and thought I might try two g-clamps. It's in half way. Anyone got any better ideas??????????????
