First we have the rear arm bearings.
Then we have a track rod end.
Then we have ABS problems.
Plus a blown brake light ( connected me thinks ).
Replaced the brake light with one from GSF which is not the same - I'll get the proper one soon.
But tonight, to top it all, getting into the car, I heard the lights on warning beeper. With hindsight, I pressed the brake pedal.
Tonight, pulling up, ALL lights off, foot on brake to apply handbrake, and the dash lights up like a Christmas tree ! Sidelights have come on !
I'm hoping this is caused by the 'brake' bulb. The blown one had two fillaments in it, this only has one, so it's obviously not the right one.
To top it all, I left the sunroof slightly open the other night. Of course, it wasn't a clear dry night. One wet rear footwell !

Sounds like the bulb is shorting across the contacts as the twin filament bulbs also have the side lights and what it is doing every time you brake is also powering up the side lights. This is very undesirable as it can cause all sorts of problems least of which is set fire to the car (Has happened before).I would remove the bulb before driving and if you have far to go to get new bulb put the old one in in case you get a tug by the old bill as if you have removed a bulb and left it they dont look to kindly upon it.The bulb you need is an R380 21/5w stop+tail. You can buy this at any motor factor, petrol station etc.Hope this helps.

This has just started to happen on my xantia today. I have not replaced any bulbs or done any work on the car for a few months and now this. I have to drive around with my lights on all the time so people dont think I am flashing them

Any help?

Could be corroding wires in the loom along the bottom of the radiator:
