Help

Post by pikecrazy »

Yesterday morning the car was frozen ,so i started it to warm it up.

It was fine for about 1 minute then cut out , management light came on.

Tried several times to start it again it ran then spluttered a bit and died management light still on.

Checked for fuel to filter ok , fuel is pumping also. (no brass particles in filter housing)

It turns over fine.

Even the AA couldn't start it :x

Where in UK - ie how cold was it? It was probably not cold enough for the fuel to wax - which I think happens at about minus 11 degrees.

Ckeck the following;
Faulty fuel shut off valve,
Blocked or collapsed air filter,
Something blocking the exhaust ( we had a customer who must have p...d somebody off as he had a potato stuck up the pipe so it would not run!)
Wrong fuel.
Have you compressed the fuel bulb until hard?
Cam belt slipped a couple of notches, teeth missing?

Best of luck!
Cheers!

It wont start if cambelt has missed anyhow.

The description sounds to me like it does not get fuel. If it was getting fuel and would not ignite because of a timing issue - then it would smoke smelly clouds from the exhaust. Points to an electric fault in either fuel stop valve or pump.
