electrical connection for fuel heater on xantia

Post by mike_zr7 »

I have just bought a stanadyne fuel heater, which I hope to fit in my 96 xantia turbo-diesel. Can anyone tell me the eaiest way to connect to the 12v electrics. I only want power when the ignition is switched on. I noticed there is a spare fuse in the engine compartment fuse box, but I dont know if this is controlled by the ignition switch, and if it is how to connect the wiring to this fuse.

I have found that the thinner of the two wires connected to the coil is live only when the engine is running. So this is the wire I should connect to the fuel heater relay. Hope this is of some help to someone doing a similar job in the future.
