C5 Central display lights?

Post by Pug106Dave »

Morning all

Car is a 51 plate and about 1 third of the central display on the dashboard seems to have lost the will to light up! Is it lit by bulbs, LEDs or some other magic? and can u just pop the front off and change the bulb?

Cheers

Center display? Do you mean the main instrument cluster? If yes, then it's lit up by LEDs, but it's weird as they don't just "pop"...You could remove it and check out the plug on the back.
To do so, get hold of 2 used credit cards or the like, and insert them beneath the 2 dots on the lower part of the cluster, push them hard until you fell no resistance (about half the lenght of the cards) and just pull the cluster.

i think he means the clock display in the centre of the dash. there are 3 normal dash bulbs in it,to remove use 2 plastic levers to lever the top bit down then pull the surround out (it can be quite tight) once that is removed two T-20 screws hold the display in.
