C5 front brakes

Post by fred1 »

Hi,

Need to change the front pads on my C5 soon.

I have used the two screwdriver method (one square shafted) to retract xantia pistons and have a retraction tool for the C3 rears (where the screwdriver method is difficult -the slots don't go right accross the face of the pistons).

I have heard that on the C5 the pistons need to be rotated in opposite directions to retract - Is this correct ?

I also assume the piston slots are as per the C3 ?

Any successful work arrounds for the C5 front to avoid buying a retraction tool with a lefthand thread ? I have not seen one anywhere so presumably they are rare and expensive (and probably Citroen)!!!

Hi Fred1

UK Tools sell a left hand threaded brake cylinder retraction tool for citroens, I think its about £16 plus delivery.

You can order online at www.uktools.com and from experience delivey is usually next day.

Hope this helps.
