Hydraulic Pressure Regulator

Post by zzf00l »

Hi.
Xantia 1.9TD 1999
Can anyone offer some advise/info. please.
Developed massive hydraulic leak from (i think) the supply pipe where it meets the regulator.... this has happened before and was cured by replacing the pipe and the stud that was missing which supported the pipe to the gearbox. It seems that the slightest movement will crack the pipe/break the seal.
However this time closer inspection reveals that the regulator is loose and one of the studs holding it to the gearbox is missing plus the single stud right on the end of the regulator is also absent. Can anyone assist by telling me which size studs I should be replacing them with and if it is possible even to replace the one at the end of the regulator?

I believe the missing studs/bolts are M7 thread with an 11mm head, they are often omitted/broken when blunt fingered oaves do the clutch :) they mistake Xants for 405s and find out about the PR too late to avoid breaking things.

I'm glad I read your post... My PR is loose, -I assumed it was to help absorb the vibration ! On a positive note, at least it is likely that the clutch was recently changed before I bought the car as claimed by the seller. Righto, I'll be off to get some bolts and secure my PR !
I won't do that again

i hope you both dont find the threads in the clutch housing striped,as you have to be very carefull that you lockate them properly, especialy the two long ones that go right through the body of the PR

Thanks for that....a trip to the local scrappy i think as M7 are fairly rare! the bolt theough the body of the regulator looks like it might be approx 75mm any idea about the one on the end of the regulator?

Exactly ny thoughts,,,about 12 months ago I had bearings replaced in the gearbox (Citroen 'Specialist' in Oxford) and since then have been replacing/tightening.re-locating bolts. these are two I obviously missed.

Just thought I would give an update on the 'missing bolt' syndrome. For some time I have had a slight clutch judder which recently got worse accompanied by an 'exhaust rattle'.... To cut a long story short I cannot find ANY gearbox to engine bolts and the engine and gearbox have seperated by approx 12mm!!!!! If I could get my hands on the 'mechanic' at CITROEN CENTRE in Oxford I would gladly throttle him.

High pressure pipe failure can also be caused by a duff accumulator sphere, but it usually goes at the pump end.

To be fair, I have purchased both my current Xantia's from him and the 3.0 never misses a beat...... but surely this is down to poor workmanship and very annoying, not to say costly. With regard to contacting him, whats the point! It will only wind me up even further :?
