i have been trying to point a felow forum user in the direction of one of my old topics from the old forum we are not alowed to mention,it wont let me view the picys as it said they are to big,we used to be able to view them on the good old site,the topic isstrut tops update(author me myself and i citronut)

You can not use old forum name URL references. You have to search the new forum database and then copy that URL - when you find what you want.

This is because the old forum database was converted - not copied - into the new forum.

OK, I've sussed it.

Clickable thumbnails.

The problem was, in the original thread the full size image had been linked. probably because the old software needed quotes around URLs so the "thumbnail for forum" link on imageshack wouldn't work. Now it does and it was a simple bit of detective work to figure out the url for the thumbnail view.

thanks a lot anders and homer,thats greart exactly what the docter orderd,sorry for being blond but my ITexpert is away at uni at the moment,so how do i now get them into the discustion that is going on now

You could press the quote button next to my post then copy the block of gobbledygook and paste it into a reply on the other thread.

Or just link to this one.
