Airbag
Evening to all. Have any of you guys and girls heared of the airbag "G" sensor. Im told that if the car decelerates within a set limit (i.e like a crash situ) then this "G" sensor triggers the airbag. Where abouts is the sensor on a 1995 Xantia lx. Thanks all the same - Alex.
OK then chaps, to take this one stage further...how do you take the steering wheel off without getting a faceful of airbag
I'd like to do this job on the C5, to straighten the wheel up after its visit to the dealer to have the new column fitted. I can't take another half day off work while they mess about with it.

Don't know about the C5, but with a bit of luck it will be similar to the Xantia, that I have had cause to do several times.
Look behind the steering wheel to see where the airbag mounting screws are.
Probably that it will look like the steering wheel will have to be off centre by 90 degrees to reach them.
That gets done while the power steering still works.
Next, disconnect the battery and wait for about 10 minutes to discharge the airbag back-up battery.
Next is to unscrew the airbag and disconnect the airbag plug, it pulls outwards.
Loosen the steering wheel lock nut a few turns, and gently rock the steering wheel free.
It may take some time, but it's better not to force or to cause impacts.
Then remove the steering wheel lock nut and rotating earth connector ... no rocket science ... seeing is doing.
At reassembly, it's no use overtightening the nut, there's no risk of it escaping, and it will be easier for next time.

Try getting the tracking reset at your local tyre fitters, one with one of the laser setups. Quite cheap, never really a waste of time and the steering wheel can be set dead true while the're at it.

I'm with Citronut on this one.
What has happened is that Sir Clive has had his steering wheel removed and refitted so that it is no centered any more the problem is that the, steering wheel was removed and not centered, so the fix is to remove the steering wheel and to center it properly.
If you try to fix it by adjusting the tracking, you will end up with one track arm longer than the other, at best you might find that you have more steering lock in one direction than in the other, at worst you'll find your car steers for you when you go over bumps.
