I have a Kenwood CD/Radio in my Mk2, they also make them for Sony. Do a search on the net, just type in 'Citroen XM radio adaptor' or something similar. It consists of some leads and a box controlling the electronics, that you plug in between the radio and the existing leads.

Firstly, you have to make sure that the radio is compatable with the adaptor, if you look at the radio details it will tell you if you can use remote operation, if you then order and adaptor kit for that radio to fit a Mk 1 XM it just plugs into your existing leads and the new radio. As long as you order the correct adaptor you cant go wrong.
