What in heaven's name is this?

Post by patneenan »

On my 97 activa behind the pass. side indicator bulb,in the wing, I get a loud ticking/knocking sound.
So I took the indicator out and there is what looks like a fuel filter wrapped in sponge wrap with 2 tubes 1 goes to rubber pipebefore the throttle body, the other disappears behind the wing so I don't know whereitgoes. it has a a faint smell of petrol and knocks/ticks quite loudly..
Could any of you wise gentlemen tell me what it could possibly be??
Cheers PAT

Is that the charcoal canister for emmisions control? Petrol engines have to have a vapour trap on any vent lines, and it will have to have the facility to purge itself occasionally.

It's very small about the size of a cotton reel, or smaller even.

its the electrovalve for the the charcoal canister to allow fuel vapour to be taken into the inlet, the canister itself has no moving or electrical parts.
