xantia atf

Post by tj »

I am getting really confused about the type of ATF to be used in my xantia estate (97). I read from numerous forum that xantia have ZFHP14 auto box that should be filled with Dexron II atf and not Dexron III. The owner's manual specify TOTAL 4AT, however when I looked up at TOTAL's web page, it says the TOTAL 4AT is Dexron III compatible atf. My car is currently running on TOTAL 4AT, am I poisoning my auto box?

What does the owners handbook say? I would have thought that was the first place to lok.

The fact that 4AT is compatible with Dexron III doesn't necessarily mean that Dexron can be substituted for 4AT. Clearly 4AT is the correct stuff, so I'd use it if I were you.
If till in doubt, why not contact Total - I'm sure that their tech people will be able to advise you.

Might be best to use what it said at time of manufacture, probably Dexron II.
