Good Mechanic ?

Post by Ross »

Can anyone reccommend a good Citroen mechanic in travelling distance of Southend Essex - bought a 1.9TD VSX Xantia - really pleased with the car (should have bought one a long time ago) but as I haven't had an xantia before or know its history I could do with someone giving it the "Once over " before I start racking up the miles. It will also give me a chance to plan ahead for maintenance.
Thanks

Are you able to give it the usuall filter change service yourself....if the suspension goes up and down ok and the tyres are all good...there shouldnt really be much more that could go wrong anytime soon

know as I live in the same area.I know a chap along the road from me who use to be a mechanic,I'll
ask if he knows of anyone. If I find one I'll post you here on the forum.

there's:
M.J Steptoe Motor Engineers
42-46 Ness Road
Shoeburyness Essex SS3 9DF
Tel: (01702 290433)
can't say I'd go there myself as I didn't like their attitude when I asked them to source me replacement struts for an XM, but they do Cit's and may be OK.
Breaker in Billericay called Edwards & Son are good for parts,
or Citroen Centre in Erith who I've used for a few years and do a good job.

Anywhere is travelling distance - try the south of france.
Of course I jest, but I can recommend the above mentioned Huw Rhys Williams although his number is actually 01892 837296.
AC motor engineers in Broadstairs, Kent is also very good.

I have used Steptoes in the past. They are capable but their charges are on a par with local main agents and they don't always give straight answers.

Glad they're too far from me to be worth using them, quicker to cross the river and use a firm I've known for a few years who do a decent job :-)
