Help - New owner

Post by Ross »

Bought a 1994 Xantia VSX with 110k for £395 today - very impressed with the car however a light has come on on the dashboard right hand of steering wheel above the handbrake light - the sign looks like a half full container with an "in and out" connection a little down from the top - can anyone tell me what the sign means
I've never had a Citroen before - is there any specific issues I should look out for ?
Thanks

Is that the "water in fuel" indicator? If it isn't a diesel it won't be.

It is the "water in the fuel filter bowl" indicator.
It's basically a float switch in the filter bowl. There's a drain on the front, open that till it's just diesel coming out. Although, my last Xant's was temperamental. The light would come on and off at random......
