how do you post pictures into the reply frame?
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
You need to host your pictures somewhere (on a personal homepage if you have one for example, or one of the free image hosting sites) then click on the yellow insert image icon and paste the direct URL to the image inbetween the tags.... please note the size restriction on inline images mentioned at the top of the forum.
For bigger images just paste URL's to them in the message body and people can click on them...
Regards,
Simon

Congratulations,
you must have one of the few good GS's left in the WORLD there. Please tell me your not going to leave it outside and use it as a daily car on your salty roads !!!

I wonder if this is the other (seemingly) rust free GSA left in the world ? [:D]

I find the claim of "alloy wheels" as rather strange, given that the whole car looks EXACTLY like the one my Mum had, but hers definately had pressed steel wheel rims and plastic wheel covers that looked exactly like those depicted.... come to think of it, were there ever alloy wheels fitted standard to a GS or GSA ? I wonder if the seller has ever taken one of the wheels off ? [:D]

Thanks Paul, Talked to Chris Jacobs and he knows someone who can sell me some GSA alloys!
Actually I loved driving the car - it's a shame people don't make cars this interesting anymore. We're all converging on designs because everyone is using metrics to design cars. So we should all be running around trying to save these cars really. I think the XM is a modern classic.

Baz,
Have a look on the Citroen forum at aussiefrogs.com - there was a thread there not too long back about changing GS cambelts. Changing the belts is apparently not too bad - it's just stripping the entire front off the car to get to them that's a pain! You also need a big (42mm?) socket to get the fan off - I think my Dad's got one kicking about somewhere that he had to buy for the one time we took a GS fan off - to change something on the hydraulic pump that is buried deep in the bowels of the engine. Think my Dad got rid of his last GS in about 1987, so it's a while since I worked on one - and I wasn't that old then either!

Basil, talk to Rob Moss before you commit yourself, chances are he already knows the car if it is a good one as he had this un-nerving habit of turning up GSs and GSAs all over the place. Total enthusiasm!
My brother and I went through a whole armful of GSs and GSAs which we picked up at trade auctions for peanuts, nobody wanted them and many were low mileage, low owner vehicles. Oh happy days.
Brilliant engines, especially the later pre-ECO 1299cc lumps. You used to be able to get an over bore kit from Germany to take it out to 1430cc. Cant remember the BHP. I ended up putting one in a motorcycle frame, interesting bike.
Only real downside was the rust. Doors, bonnets, bootlid, wings, floor, A panel, front subframe. Lift carpet in boot and check floor pan, any rust, walk away.
I still have some useable body panels, engines and gearboxes in you want spares.
