Replacement LHM reservoir top rubber seal

Post by sbraud »

Hi all,
Does anyone know if our gracious hosts, GSF, stock a replacement LHM reservoir top rubber seal. I’ve done a search but can’t find anything… Alas nothing new there !! [:o)][;)]
My one is leaking all over reservoir, despite cleaning it and seal twice…
Cheers

Is your LHM level excessive? Overfilling is the usual cause of reservoir leakage.
As a matter of interest I've been around this board for some time now and have never heard of anyone replacing this seal.

I'd be interested!
Both my Xantias leak round this seal, despite the LHM level being correct.
I had thought of using silicone sealantunder the gasket.

Thanks Jeremy,
No, tank is `right on the money'. Rubber feels slightly spongy, as if it’s soaked up some LHM after all those years (10) sitting on top of reservoir.

I get a puddle of LHM on top of my reservoir too.
My level is correct but each time I open the bonnet there is a puddle of green martian blood.
Maybe its the result of running down invisible aliens !!

That gave me a good giggle... Maybe that is what LHM is. Martian blood...
I have the same problem. Somehow I think all Xantias have this condition..
I ignore it. I just wipe it up every time I check the oil and water.

there are three posible causes for citro/blood being found on top of tank,
(1)being the usual to much fluid in tank,a lot of people dont know how to check this corectly
(2)missing the apature when topping up citro/blood
(3)posibly a leak from one or more of the rubber unions where pipes leave the tank
to check you level park car on level ground fully up on the highest setting,at this point the yellow disc not the copper one should be inbetween the two red bands on the level indiccator regards malcolm

I found that after disturbing the dirt and cleaning the seal and tank, my Xantia started leaking around this seal. It seems to have stopped leaking there now, and the levels are correct so, if it ain't broke, I'm not going to fix it.

In my experience of 10 various hydropnumatic Citroens, they all leak around the reservoir cover, May be something to do with over enthusiastic conering!

perhapes the plastic tank becomes distorted around this airear, because cits with metal tank only suffer this prob when over filled, spilage or leaking from pipes around this point regards malcolm

Cheers John I'll look into compatibility... although I think they'll be the same. How much are asking? And am I right in thinking tank, seal & central tube cluster?
Thanks
