1360cc TU Engine Starter Motor

Post by jaws77 »

Do these lumps all use the same model starter motor? GSF Part Numer: N90104
I need to change one on a Pug 205 which has a TU3 1360cc engine and I have a spare starter motor from an AX GT, again a TU3 1360cc. These 2 cars share the same engine and I have also seen that a ZX that has the same engine also has the same starter motor.
Sorry for rambling, any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Jason.

What makes a starter motor unique is it's fitting flange on the clutch bellhousing (and a few other things).
Since the mentioned cars share the same basic engine type & gearbox type - the startermotors are directly interchangeable.
There are loads of different startermotors fittng the same engine - as several manufacturers do these as subcontractors to the car makers. Add to this any major and minor modifications to the startermotors over the years - and you got numerous part/type numbers all fitting these cars.

is this the same engine as the C3? 1360cc sounds like the C3 engine?

out of interest. When I put the multipoint 1360cc in the starter motor was different to the old one that was on the single point 1360cc engine. The new SM is much smaller, although they both mount the same.
