Xantia Misfire

Post by alex123 »

My Xantia 1997 2.0 16v has developed an intermittent misfire and serious power loss when cruising. The fuel gauge also appears to read high at the same time.
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi alex123,
A few things to check out here. Have you the correct spark plugs installed ? When did you last change your fuel filter ? Is there a hole in the 'cat' or any part of the exhaust ? Check to see if any sensor is disconnected e.g. lamda etc ? Is the last fuelling from your usual supplier - could be water in fuel. Check for choked air filter. I am presuming petrol engine. Check fuel tank breathing O.K. Fuel gauge prob. maybe not related. Have fun.

No Citroen stuff here, but have a look anyway. Feedback, critical or appreciative most welcome.

Thanks for that I'll have a look at those items, I forgot to mention that the engine management light also illuminates at the same time.
