you went through everyone's nightmare at that point, and I have to say I still hesitate today on the first turn of that key "even though deep down I know its right" I still do a couple of checks to make sure so you are assured your not the only one, im glad you did it your self and saved money you also learned a lot so in future you will not fear that type of job in the future, "even if a timing belt snaps on you which I hope not" you will take the job on with ease and confidence.
