Brake Help

Post by pikecrazy »

On removal of my front wheel today i noticed that a wire had frayed and broken [:0]
It's next to the caliper and is only a very fine wire.
Any ideas as to what it could be [?]
And more importantly is it safe as it is [?]

It sounds like the brake pad thickness warning light cable.
When the pad reaches a minimum thickness, the warning light comes on.
Is one end plugged into the brake pad?
It is perfectly safe but bear in mind that the warning light will NOT operate. You will have to check the pads personally (which is no bad thing)

I have rarely seen those intact, they seem to have a lemming like attraction for the inside of the wheelrim, just keep your ears open when braking and use the audible padwear system!
