As with almost any tuning, the sky is the limit. Cost is the only restriction, and it's a trade off between power and longevity of the engine. Being sensible with your power increase means you can probably get 120hp out of it. (for a 1.9TD) A 2.1 will possibly put out 135hp, but that's about the limit before you start spending silly money.

If memory serves, the Derv doctor reckons, pump/turbo tune will get you around 110/120 (cost £120) but to get further gains, option a is an uprated intercooler (on zx still located on top of engine), and option b (even more cash) is uprated front mounted intercooler by rad with slimline race fan kit.
I just went for manual tune up as reckon price per bhp gain on other options was not worth it on car of this age. Will get hdi next and have that sorted instead once this goes to car heaven, or i get bored.

Check out: http://www.hs-elektronik.com/automarken/citroen-e.html
seems their chip gives 115hp to the 1.9 and 136hp to the 2.1.

I'd like to seem them chip my '94 Xantia to 115 bhp... there is very little electronic in it apart from the clock and the alarm, i.e. mechanical injection, no electronics to fry next time there's a nuclear strike [;)].

True, I should have mentioned that it only applied to electronically controlled injection.
