dropped lucky today.....all paperwork supports mileage[24k].....car is A1 ++....just moving to a nicer xantia after 2 yrs with my trusty 96 XUD TD dimension[132k][for sale if anyone interested.]..good nick, and cheap [LEICESTER} 07760 463179
any pointers on this petrol model welcome.....i have no exp with petrol xantias, although with these miles on it, i hope its ok for a while yet!!

Get the belt changed!!!! FOR SAFTY.. If it goes, THOUGH IT SHOULDN'T yet it will do all valves in, not just a few!! As I've just found with the 1997 R reg 1.8i 16V I bought with broken belt..
Problems with the coil pack, that sits over the sparkies can give trouble, but its always discussed on here, with solutions... Good luck with it, but poersonally, would rather stick with TD, or go for HDi..

I switched from a TD to the 1.8i 16v. Generally, as with the TD, it is very reliable and the performance is a shade better than the diesel (although others will not agree). Usual niggles prevail however. Things like the clutch clip, dasboard bulbs, stereo display breaking up, fan switch going etc
For some reason the 1.8i uses more oil. I never had to top the TD up but the petrol needs topping up every few weeks.
