Upgrading HDi 90 to 110?

Post by littleredrooster »

A mate of mine is about to buy a Xantia HDi 90 and is curious to know how to convert it to 110 spec. Is it an easy conversion? How much?

Don't buy it and buy a 110 instead! The 110 has an intercooler, different turbo and some differences in ECU and injection equipment. You can chip the 90 BHP ECU to give nearer 110, but it will never be as good. Buy the 110 and chip that to 135 instead - the power the Xantia TD always needed!

Its long and very complex to convert the 90.
Like Richard says you can chip it (about £100)- and to be honest Im quite happy with my 90 now its chipped and so far have seen no overheating problems even when towing.
I think your best bet is to find a 110 though if thats what your / your mate after.

There are internal engine differences too, the crankshaft is different from the 90 to the 110 version. The only difference seems to be larger main bearings.

Thanks, chaps! Glad I bought the 110 - I think my mate's gonna be disappointed.
