I found it quicker and easier to break off the old plastic clip with a 1/2" chisel. Remove the dash clock assembly and you will see a hole in the inner bulkhead, to the rear of the pod housing where you can clearly see the top of the clutch lever. I got one of those things that you pick up things in awkward spaces and guided the new part on to the arm. Using a long scredriver I managed to push the plastic shaft through the hole in the clutch arm.
The whole job took me under on hour and a half, but I did already know how to remove the dash pod quickly.
