Xantia clutch

Now driving the Xantia, very pleased with it. I got the dealer to do a service. It is non cit so I am not sure if everything has been done.I notice he didn;t stamp the servise record./ Pondering whether to put it in for Cit dealer service.
The cluth takes quite a push and feels creaky on the pedal has this been overtightened?
Also the brakes need quite a shove an seem slow to bite, when released
the car seems to increase momentum. Not sure if all this is just me not used to car or due to a non cit service.
The Zx I traded in the dealer mechanic said he found nowt wrong with the Head gasket and accepted the car fpr original trade in.
Watching the rad at the roadside was like watching a kettle boiling..Oh well I did tell them..

what engine in xantia??? it sounds like a clutch problem to make pedal stiff (could be lucky could be cable) brakes need checking one thing you can be sure withxantia brakes working properly they are instant without much pressure (could be air in system).
