You'd need to transfer... wiring, wheel sensors, driveshafts, hubs, heatshields, the rear brakes, ABS ECU, ABS relay, ABS valve block etc.
This is probably the scale of conversion that ActivaV6 would love to tackle, but it would be a 8, 9 or 10 on my scale.

simple then! lol I'd suspect the 1.9D's drive shafts wouldn't fit the petrol gearbox??

Its probably not as bad as I've made it sound since you'll probably have some of the wiring on your existing loom, but there would be quite a bit of stuff to move over.
You'd probably have to add various brake pipes to the list, and perhaps the master cylinder too. I suspect it would be quicker to move everything else from your car over to the 1.9D....

and once its done it will probably stop working all the time due to the dodgy sensors :) , I just gave up with mine and removed the abs warning light bulb to get it through the mot. Only once in 10 years of driving have I been grateful for abs and that was on mud, the rest of the time I find a distracting hinderance and would rather cadence brake myself if needed

I couldn't agree more with that. There are some people who have said they won't drive without abs now, but I think if it fails just when you need it, this is far more dangerous than not having it in the first place. My 405 is only the second car (out of 50+) I've had with (A)nother (B)loody (S)afetyfeature, and I hate it.

No. The master cylinder and brake calipers are non-ABS-specific. The only vehicle that has an ABS-specific master cylinder is the early 405 with bendix integral, and these should be avoided like the plague: it's not possible to bleed them properly without specialist equipment. If bled in the normal manner, brake failure is guaranteed.
