zx 1.9td re-build

Post by tim hiscocks »

Hi,
Does anyone know of any good places un the UK (preferably south) to get the 1.9td engine for the ZX re-built? Would prob want new turbo too. Plus, are there any worthwhile mechanical mods to improve power and torque while its being done eg. valves, intercooler ect..?
If anyone knows of anything please let me know,
Cheers,
Tim
P.S. I know vanatiken does a mechanical deisel pump up-grade for the td which gives 110bhp and 185ft/lbs. Idealy I would like to be getting around 130bhp / 200ft/lbs (with pump upgrade).

Don't know about rebuilding but at that power output I'd have thought you'll be affecting reliability of the old XUD. You will certainly be in (expensive) large intercooler territory.
Personally I'd have thought you would be better off starting with an HDI 110-powered Xsara, and chipping it.
You can get useful XUD power increases by simple tweaking of the fuel pump, plenty of info here on that. There's also plenty of info on head gasket failures....

You could try the Derv Doc who also specialises in tunning these 1.9td upto 130bhp, or even the HDIs. http://www.thedervdoctor.co.uk
he is based in ashbourne.
