I am getting some lhm coming out of the rubber boot at the back of the front brake caliper.
How/where is it coming from[?]
I am wondering if it comes out when the handbrake is on (does anyone have an exploded diagram of the internal workings of the caliper/handbrake [?])
Are the brakes on split circuits [?]
Thanks

Xantia caliper leak

Basil - how old is your Xantia ?
I presume this caliper is the original.
It is in fact possible for the caliper to leak back from the bore to the handbrake mechanism. But then I suspect it would be a rather heavy leak - on braking.
Try inspect the area while an assistant applies the brake PEDAL. That is the only occasion that gives pressure internal to the caliper.
If a leak is evident you have a FATAL problem with that caliper [B)]
- meaning a 100% brake failure could happen [xx(]
The front calipers are in parallel - but separated from the rear ones.
The handbrake acts on the front caliper piston directly - through a sealed rod. It is this seal that COULD fail.
NOTE : The handbrake mechanism under the boot is filled with a lubricant that can weep a bit. This is NOT a problem.
