Turbo Estate

Post by handyman »

Maybe a learned Xantia-ist can impart some information to me. Did the Xantia Estate ever come in the guise of a 2.0 petrol turbo estate? I have been in contact with a number of sellers on the Net, assuring me that their cars were 2.0 petrol turbo estates, one even said his was a 16V version, but they were all too far for a cursory glance.
I have scoured all the Internet info on Xantias and can find no listing for these models.
My current estate has clocked over 200K and I thought it was time for an upgrade. I like the estate and a little more umph would not go amiss.

Yes.
It had the same 8 valve 2.0 turbo petrol engine as the Activa. (there was never a 16 valve turbo petrol).
It was originally sold as a VSX trim and had Turbo CT badges on the doors. After the facelift it was rebadged Exclusive with no external indication to the engine.
The Turbo CT monica stands for Constant Torque, very flat torque curve with 90% of peak torque (178lb/ft) available from 2000 to 5000 rpm (if I remember the blurb rightly).
Oh and you won't find much info. I even had an insurance company argue that it didn't exist!

Thanks for the info Homer. Is there anymore detail to spec levels? Ie. interiors, years produced, etc. Are there any performance figures available?

They became available from about 97, being VSX spec they had all the goodies, Hydractive suspension, aircon, most had leather interiors.
Performance wise, brisk but not a 'road burner'.

They do exist, but I would imagine they are quite rare.

Yes they are rare but generally quite cheap due to the perceived low fuel consumption/insurance costs. I used to get low 30's commuting.
