I read a thread about removing the spring in the Xantia to firm up the break pedal.
Do you think placing a stiffer spring as a replacement for the existing spring would do the same job?
If any one knows of any links showing how to change the spring it would be very useful.
Cheers

I tried with the original spring and did not like the feel when the pedal is lightly pressed, and especially did not like the change in rate when the steel spring is fully compressed and the rubber plunger takes over.
I tried replacing the spring with a steel spacer and did not like the suddenness of operation.
I went back to the original spring with a spacer of about 5mm behind it, and like it much better than the other 2 options.
You cannot put a larger spacer behind the original spring because with the brake off it is trying to push apart the plastic housing around the spring, and it is not very strong.
Maybe it would be even better with the original spring cut 10mm shorter and a spacer to take up the difference
