There are no such things as daft questions.
If fitted then they do have to work and illuminate white (not blue as my ZX ones were)

Well, my wifes Discovery has passed its last 3 MOT's with the reversing lights not working properly, so you should be ok.

Do you think my car would look better with purple spots or pink ones?

I bought a CX once, it had purple sidelights, purple reverse lights, purple bulbs in the interior lights and had purple neons underneath.
It wasnt as bad as it sounded, honest.

It would appear not.

Yet I was told by my tester they did (but didnt if they were not fitted - i.e. didnt have to be fitted for any particular year)
Still - put white bulbs in and he seemed happy enough after that.
Just goes to show...

As far as im aware, no they dont. A mate of mine has a transit van, and the reverse lights havent worked for about 5 years, and it still passes every time, another mate has an astra, and his lights are intermittant, and again its passed the last 3 years without them.

Reverse lights are not a testable item !
If they do not work, a car will not fail it's test.
