BX Brake upgrade

Post by oilyspanner »

I am looking into the possibility of fitting Xantia Vented discs and calipers to the BX, has anyone done this yet?[}:)]

in my opinion the easiest upgrade would be to fit vented discs and the calipers from a BX 16v,no head scratching required!!

Agree with the above the 16v breaks are more than enough to stop a bx and the xantia breaks have diferent mounting holes any way and they wont fit inder some 15" alloys even on the xantia (309/ 205 speedlines being one of the wheels that wont fit over them).

A mate has fitted calipers from the Xantia 2.0 16v, together with the 283mm discs. I can't recall any particular problems, there might be a clearance issue with the disc size and 14" wheels though (he runs 16" wheels on his BX) Certainly the caliper bolted up OK and the handbrake cables fitted, from what he told me.....?
I'll have to give him a ring to check, not having been involved in this modification.

I checked the 2L turbo calipers i have here against a 16v front hub and it didnt fit, so you may need to be carfull with what calipers you use. I did think that all the xantia calipers had the same mounting holes though.

I've fitted new Brembo vented discs with Textar pads on my BX TZD Turbo, works well enough.
