Very strange thing happened (I wonder how many times a topic has started with those words when about to refer to a Xantia!!!) a couple of days ago. My os headlamp went out, took the headlamp cover off went to unclip the bulb and replace and as soon as I touched the clip the light came back on. Ah I thought, just a loose wire. Lamp was fine for another day then went out again. This time no wiggling would fire up the bulb so thought the bulb must need changing. Changed the bulb, as I plugged the new one in, switched one, it glowed very faint red for 1 second and then went out! Now that main beam (not full) bulb doesn't work and my instrument panel lights have all gone out.
On the panel the hand brake, indicators, stop, glowplug coil lights all work. Heater controls, clock and rest of panel in darkness?
All the other front lights work, indicators, full beam etc.
Any suggestions?
