I've bought myself a project off ebay !!

I found this for sale with just a bit of front end damage
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :EOAB:UK:6
What does anyone think ?, i have been after an hdi for a while now as my fuel cost is rather high with me driving 6000 miles a month in a 1.8i 16v, i am hoping it will pay for itself with the fuel savings i make
seems odd that he has listed it with cruise control, cd player, sunroof and traction control, i didnt think that the standard 'xantia forte hdi' had all these bits as standard?, does anyone know where i can find out what the 'forte' model should have ?
Also, does anyone know of somewhere i can get a front bumper and wing and headlight and indicator from ?, i figure i can fit them myself and just take the car down to my local paintshop to get the bits sprayed ?

GSF dont seem to do body panels, and i cant find anywhere on the internet to get them, i seem to remember ads in the exchange and mart for panels and bumpers, maybe its best for me to get one of those tomorrow then

why don't you try a breakers yard, i'm sure you will be able to find a late model xantia , some breakers even have panels and bumpers already removed.

You think ?, i wouldnt have thought anyone would be breaking series 2 xantia's yet ?,
I will certainly give some a ring on monday morning though as i am picking the car up on wednesday, i am going to fit the parts there and drive it back as i dont think it would be road legal with a bit of bumper missing and the wing badly damaged

there seems to be often someone on there ready to bail out for peanurs and often they're wrecking for parts, I've seen quite a few cars go up for next to nix with apparently little wrong, also there's this one; Citroen for sale.

I think between them, you'll find something and this way, you're keeping it "in house" as chances are they will be a board user/visitor.

Breakers local to me has an S reg and V reg Xantia in stock - though the S plate has heavy front end damage the V plate (in silver) is an S & R with no wheels and underside damage, body panels relativly intact. The asking price is about £50 for a bumper and £20 for wings at that particular breakers. (Preston Lancs.)

Thanks for everyone's replies, I will check out all those links Alan, they look like being a gold mine of info!
And i will get a parkers guide tomorrow (think i might have an old one around somewhere though)
And will phone round some breakers yards tomorrow morning, however at the sort of prices they are charging for a bumper i might as well buy new panels as i can get a series 2 complete bumper for £92 brand new !, its a pity gsf dont do body panels

I'm pretty sure all Xantia wings are the same; a friend is repairing a late xantia and has used the doors and wings off my mothers old '94 1.9D. Obviously lights bonnet and bumper is different though...

No the're not, MK1 2.1 diesel and 2.0 petrol turbos had wider front wings, I think all MK2 also had them.
