can anyone tell me how to change gearbox oil on xantia 1.9td please
according to Mr. Haynes:
jack up front and rear keeping car level.
remove front LH wheel, liner and engine tray
remove combined filler/level plug (largest on transmission end cover)
remove drain plug and drain oil
fit new washer and replace drain plug
refit sheilds and wheel, lower car
*slowly* add 1.8 litres oil into filler hole
add oil a bit at a time until it emerges from the hole
It is now reccommended to go for a short journey then return, wait, then recheck by adding a little more oil and waiting for the out flow to stop.
I reckon on reading this it would be possible to do it with the car on max providing the ground is level, removing the wheel then lowering the jack slightly to level it off again.
