Xantia - Noisy Central Locking

Post by roy_newell »

Hi all, my central locking is fine when locking but when unlocking I get a loud buzz for about a second coming from what sounds like the rear passenger door, its a really loud sound, quite annoying, any ideas? dodgy motor on that door maybe?

If it is on the drivers or O/S check the fuel flap lock. That one siezes very easliy and just buzzes instead of operating. Lots of WD40 is usually a cure with a few operatons and then grease it well. R

Had the very same problem on BX. Dismantled the motor (I think the same or similar type; it's necessary to cut plastic housing with a knife), but didn't manage to improve the things. From my remembering (it was 5-6 years ago), reason for buzzing was slipping of the metal ring over the plastic wheel in its mechanism.
I didn't like the sound either, so I finally disconnected the motor (it was on one of the rear doors)
